THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED – WINNER CARLA A – I SENT YOU AN EMAIL!
I’ll tell ya right off the bat, I cook and bake… no one ever said this Momma is a bread-maker! When we have family gatherings I make Bruschetta, Lasagna or bring a dessert because we know the dishes will turn out with perfection. I’ve tried my hand at making bread and I’ll be the first to tell ya it doesn’t end well – it ends in the garbage! So I was a little intimidated to try the Annie’s Bake At Home Kit so much in so I put it off until the last minute.
The instructions I had received was to “make a recipe other than pretzels”. So I headed over to Auntie Anne’s website to find a recipe my family would love. I was thinking about making the Monkey Bread but, I didn’t have a bundt pan {I know, I know!}. The Pretzel Links were totally out of the question since Mini Me doesn’t eat hot dogs {WHAT?!?} so that left the only a few recipes left and I made the executive decision {since I am the President of the Loehner household} to make Pretzel Stix.
______________________
The dough making process was actually VERY easy! Once I began I wasn’t sure what I was afraid of. I don’t think you can really ruin the dough. If the dough is to sticky add a little flour, if it’s to dry add a tiny bit of water.
____________________________
The dough was very easy to work with. It was a little sticky but once I dusted the counter top with flour to knead it was perfect!
____________________________
After about 5 minutes of kneading I went ahead and sprayed down a clean bowl and the plastic wrap with butter cooking spray. During the 30 minutes on top of the stove on warm the dough was able to rise slightly and was SUPER easy to get out of the bowl. Placing the plastic wrap on top of the dough allowed the dough to stay moist and not dry out.
___________________________________
After the 30 minutes I sprinkled a little bit more flour on to my work surface. I used my hands to stretch the dough out {no idea what Mini Me did with my rolling pin!}. Much to my surprise it worked out pretty well! If you aren’t confident in using your hands and don’t have a rolling pin you can use a glass cup, sprinkle with flour and roll it out. I use to do this years ago when making cookie dough!
Next I used a pizza cutter and cut the dough into strips. From here, I decided not just make Cinnamon Stix but to make a variety of foods using the dough. I cut the strips in half and placed on a cookie sheet that I rubbed a little melted butter on to ensure the dough wouldn’t stick to my new Pampered Chef pan!
The Cinnamon Stix were fantastic. Let’s just say they didn’t last too long in the Loehner household! I am going to purchase another box at my local grocery store and see if I can’t make a Cinnamon Coffee Stick to stir my coffee with and then munch on!
Mini Me just loved the Cinnamon Stix. I think Momma may have given her one to many before dinner that night!

We love Pretzel Buns so this was my attempt at it. I served the rolls with our Beef Stew that night and while they were good I should’ve went a little less with the salt. The Pretzel Buns I used to make a deli sandwich with the following day and it was DELISH! The bread was super soft, not to salty and fabulous with ham, cheese, a tomato and little bit of mayo!
______________________________
We LOVE garlic, garlic bread, bruschetta with loads of garlic…..pretty much if we can put fresh garlic in a dish, we do! That said, I really wanted to see what some Garlic Bread Pretzels would taste like. I was a little bit nervous because I was hoping these would be spectacular – and they were! These would be great with soups and of course spaghetti.
______________________________
I still had dough left over and wanted to add chocolate {evilish grin!}
– I totally forgot to try one before they were gone, so I’m just assuming they were fantastic!
