BlueBird by Bob Staake
Bluebird, for ages 3-7, is told entirely with pictures so children have to “interpret” what is happening. When a little blue bird and a little boy become friends they have fun around town but when at the end of the day they encounter three bullies and little blue bird is caught in the cross fire. A poignant tale of friendship and letting go. The illustrations are simple and mostly done in black and white with a blue background and of course the little blue bird. The only burst of color are the other “angel birdies” that come down from the heavens.
